Full-Depth Asphalt Reclamation (FDR) & Pulvermixing Recycling with Cement

Full-depth recycling or reclamation (FDR) is a process that rebuilds the deteriorated asphalt pavement and base sub-grade of the existing roadway or parking lot. Full-depth reclamation or pulverization with cement is a cost effective stabilizing pavement solution in which deteriorated asphalt pavement and the underlying base materials are pulverized in place then mixed with cement and water to form a cement-treated stabilized sub-grade. A new asphalt surface layer is then installed.

Giordano Construction Inc.® utilizes state of the art reclaiming machinery that allows for (FDR) in place on site. This process allows for quick repair turnaround with minimal effects on traffic versus traditional full depth removal and replacement methods requiring long traffic closures or delays. Most of the work can be performed overnight to minimize impact on tenants and traffic. The results with recycling are normally a 25% – 50% reduction in repair costs over traditional removal and replacement methods. This cost savings is a result of utilizing the existing onsite base and asphalt materials stabilizing with the addition of cement.

What is FDR?

Full-depth reclamation or pulverization with cement is a cost effective stabilizing pavement solution in which deteriorated asphalt pavement and the underlying base materials are pulverized in place then mixed with cement and water to form a cement-treated stabilized sub-grade. A new asphalt surface layer is then installed.

Giordano Construction Inc.® utilizes state of the art machinery that allows them to recycle the materials on-site. There is no need for long-term detours as our process is quicker than traditional removal and replacement methods. Our process is more efficient with minimum disruption.

Why should you consider (FDR) Full-Depth Asphalt Reclamation & Pulvermixing Recycling with Cement

R
FDR Full-Depth Asphalt Reclamation saves you money.
R
Full-depth reclamation uses the existing materials from the deteriorated asphalt pavement and underlying base, and, with the addition of cement, creates a new stabilized base.
R
Recycling costs are normally 25% to 50% less than traditional removal methods.
R
The surface performance is improved through better stabilization and water runoff, building a stronger and low-maintenance road or parking lot that will last for many years.
R
FDR limits the pressure on local landfill sites as up to 80% of the original base and asphalt materials are recycled in place.

Our commitment to the environment.

Recycling protects natural resources.

Over 90% of removed concrete, asphalt, and base materials exported to local recycle plant.

Imported road base and structural fill materials sourced from local recycle plants.

FAQs

What is (FDR) Full-depth asphalt reclamation and pulverization recycling with cement?
Full-depth reclamation or pulverization with cement is a cost effective stabilizing pavement solution in which deteriorated asphalt pavement and the underlying base materials are pulverized in place then mixed with cement and water to form a cement-treated stabilized sub-grade. A new asphalt surface layer is then installed.
What are the advantages of (FDR) Full-depth reclamation & pulvermixing recycling with cement?
At least 25% – 50% less expensive versus traditional removal methods. FDR is twice as fast as traditional methods thus minimizing effects on tenants and traffic flow. It is a more permanent repair extending the life of the existing pavement surface.
When should pavement be reconstructed?
When there is extensive damage or “alligator” cracks, it is more effective and cost-efficient to completely reconstruct than to do an overlay.
After a pavement has been recycled, what is the life expectancy of the recycled pavement and subgrade?

This is dependent on many factors including the quality of the existing and surrounding pavement and sub-grade, weather patterns, vehicular traffic type and load, thickness of existing pavement, and condition of the existing and surrounding pavement and sub-grade. With proper routine maintenance and repairs a parking lot or driveways lifespan could be increased by 15 – 25 years.

How long before traffic is permitted on newly repaired surface?
Proposed downtime will be determined during the consultation and proposal process. A plan will be developed prior to any construction minimizing the effects on traffic flow. A well planned approach will minimize customer and tenant stress allowing for continued operations during the construction process.
